Term “No Kill” means that a shelter does not end the life of healthy animals due to the lack of cage space after a specific period of time, typically 10 days or 2 weeks. However, some shelters do end the lives of animals that have issues they are ill equipped to cope with such as diseases and expensive medical conditions, those needing surgery (other than spay/neuter), etc. It is always wise to check with each individual shelter before leaving your surrenders with them about their policies.
