Our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) center serves as a resting stop for free-roaming cats to recuperate after surgery as they go through the TNR process. Feral cats arriving at the CCC receive the necessary food, medication, and love (of course) before they returned to their outdoor homes.
Why TNR?
Cats without indoor homes are what we call free-roaming or community cats. These are simply cats that live in the community. In your alley ways, backyards, and parks. These cats have no owners, but are no less deserving of the love and care we give to our indoor pets. When these cats are left alone, they breed A LOT! Thousands of kittens are born outside and many don’t make it. That’s where TNR comes in.
How does it work?
When we notice an outdoor cat (and confirm that it has no owner) a trapper comes in with a human trap to bait and trap it. Once they catch it, the cat is transported to a nearby veterinarian to be spayed/neutered. Then, after a short recuperation period, the cat is returned to live its life as best as possible.
It remains the most effective method in halting the harmful breeding cycle of free-roaming cats and offers them a friendly dose of love and care they are unlikely to receive outdoors.
